socially responsible business

shiny things knows that every business affects the social and economic world within which we live - and has the power to impact our well-being

it started with you;

it started with you asking us to do something different, something sustainable, and something socially responsible

we built shiny things on foundations of social responsibility... for everyone

defining business for the future

we believe that business can be a force for good, as long as its purpose is not merely to make money but serve the community and satisfy societal needs sustainably.

and it's not how we spend money...

it's about how we make it that matters most.

where values meet money

we believe that doing business well, comes from being a leader for good

we believe that everyone can thrive together well and equitably

we believe in distributing surplus to enrich social and environmental health

we believe in encountering other people in ways that support their wellbeing - as well as our own

we believe in consuming sustainably, acting empathetically, and investing in future generations so they can live safely and well

as you may already know, shiny things began as a local answer to failures in the disability industry and associated systems. In creating an alternative, we created a vision in which corporate spending met more than corporate needs

shiny things privileges social responsibility in everything we do and here are some of the ways we do this:

  • sharing and gifting resources, including education
  • contributing to food security in our local community and working to lower food waste among our stakeholders in a number of ways
  • grants for essential items
  • working with 2 Days (our sister company) and people living with a disability in offering sustainable and affordable housing
  • maximising positive economic and environmental impact when we make purchases
  • giving back to the world in sustainable ways
  • protecting people over profit
  • treating the environment as precious
  • volunteering, and supporting volunteering
  • recycling, repurposing and refurbishing where possible
  • being environmentally conscious in what we do, and how we do it
  • keeping sustainability as our biggest priority when making business decisions
  • having relationships with like-minded businesses
  • always looking for ways to practice wisdom
  • reviewing our values, and how we live them, regularly

with a commitment to improve community well-being through discretionary business practices and contributions of corporate resources, shiny things seeks ways in which positive societal goals of a sustainable nature can flourish
